As bad as the sonyverse is, I kind of enjoy how much the venom movies lean into being campy trash. I think Madam Webb tried to do a similar thing, but it was obvious that it was only an attempt in post-production where as Kelly Marcel (who’s written all three movies and is directing this one) leaned into the camp from the beginning.

This one looks like it'll be a lot of fun - the only thing that's throwing me off is the casting of Chiwetel Ejiofor, who played Baron Mordo in at least 2 Marvel Universes - and if they're trying to keep the Venom universe considered an alternate Marvel Universe, it's weird for them to intentionally add that sort of cognitive dissonance.
