He also convinced me to read Aliens vs. Avengers which is quite good and would be the second comic book recommendation from a video essay that I've enjoyed, the first being TMNT : The Last Ronin.

Speaking of franchises searching for purpose, I'm reminded of a recent interview with James Cameron where he says "You couldn't pay me enough to go back to that (Alien) franchise" and that it's almost become "fan driven".

Whether through Scott's efforts with Prometheus, Alvarez' Romulus or to a lesser extent, Alien Earth, I'm still convinced that there's a tug of war between creators who want to do something different with the rich Alien universe, and fans/studios seeking to (once again) give us yet another an egg discovery and ensuing bloodbath story.
