Hoppers
This was fine. I think there’s a real tonal whiplash from the first 30 minutes of it to the rest of it. This is from the We Bare Bears guy and it mostly does feel in line with Cartoon Network’s sensibilities until we switch over to Disney emotionality.
Better than a lot of Disney’s animated output, I enjoyed it more than Turning Red, which I found annoying and self-aggrandizing.
Doesn’t always land but an entertaining movie nonetheless.

Scream 7
This was terrible. Easily the worst film of the franchise. The original screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, directed this, and it feels like a first time director. So visually flat and boring.
This made me realize that the script for the original was probably weak and Wes Craven elevated it beyond what Williamson’s capabilities actually are. This is also true for their other collabs Scream 2 and Scream 4, notably Scream 3 was still written by this guy but not directed by Craven and was really bad.
Radio Silence was then handed the keys to the franchise in 2022 and 2023. Stream VI I think is the best Scream sequel. Radio Silence are terrific filmmakers. Compare the trailer to Scream VI and Scream 7 just to see the obvious visual difference.
Williamson clearly has a vendetta against Radio Silence because 60% of the dialogue is complaining about Scream VI. It’s almost like watching Rise of Skywalker’s obvious contempt for The Last Jedi.
Radio Silence can make a better film in their sleep than Williamson can on cocaine. Considering how good Ready or Not 2 looks I think Silence made the right choice and Paramount really fucked up.
