To be fair, many fans of the movies haven't read the comics. Also, details can be important, like the survival of your favorite character.

Mostly because I'm now in the possession of what amounts to a nuclear explosive in various communities I'm in. Partly because I don't care that much about spoilers (it's about the journey, not the destination!)

Though, in a sort of spoiler-free reaction; I wasn't that interesting with all that context and buildup missing.

Kind of want to just get it over with and seek them out now. Please convince me not to?

You know how you get all excited when the film you've long waited for starts? You know it's gonna be good because you have good cinematic history with the people involved, and part of you really wants it to be good, too.

I dunno how 'bout you, but the moment I see a spoiler, I get really bummed out, 'cause something that I could've discovered all by myself – in my own private and personal way that only makes sense to me – is just laid out in front of me. It doesn't change the plot, or the character development, or the production value – but there's a non-deterministic excitement about exploring a story that gets cut off by the reveal of the ending, even if it's a false reveal.

Nobody can convince you unless you want to be convinced. With that in mind, here's my best argument: don't do it 'cause you won't like it, and you know you won't. Scratching that itch is not worth the (lack of a) payout you'd get from the story.

I completely understand that as a point of view, but I'm sort of the opposite. If I know how a movie goes, or ends, the pleasure is in seeing how it's different from I imagined, and in anticipating whether something is leading up to what I know happens sooner or later.

And you're not the one I'm trying to help sort out here.

The way you get from A to B, how the movie is actually implemented, builds up, makes context and moves characters, is what's interesting.

If you told someone who never watched Star Wars that Darth Vader is Luke's father, the movie wouldn't be ruined over it. It's an important point but not everything. The movie has other things going on. And we still have to find out how luke finds out Vader is his father.

Thank you for giving me a reason to stay off Reddit for a couple of months. I'm only ever seeing the film when the Blu-Ray comes along.
