    Great article.

I (a white cishet dude) was mostly either indifferent or oblivious to the LGBTQIA plights of others, having grown up watching a ton of movies and television starring white cishet dudes. Nowadays I think the raised awareness of it all and gender fluidity has really made today's movies feel incredibly bland and tone-deaf in their lack of inclusion or just awareness in general. So I can only hope that the raised awareness will serve as a good stepping stone for it to then make its way into the spotlight.

Like, the Marvel universe? As big as it is, you're telling me not ONE of those protagonists is at least queer to an extent that they can express it on film? I recognize part of that is Disney's reluctance to pull the trigger on it so as not to lose their international (more conservative areas of their) audience, but... too bad for them? I wish they'd be brave and actually do more than just let the (hetero) director play a small role talking about their loss of a partner.

I see a lot of publishers and artists actively seek out LGBTQIA and minority writers/creators in my feed, and the stuff they make is really fresh, having brought in new perspective of life and society, and it's the view I'd love to see more of brought into storytelling.
