It's interesting because this project kind of feels like a failure, and I think the author might feel that way as well, with the line "Oh well. He's still a better rapper than me." The end product doesn't really sound like DOOM, and the bars themselves are just straight up not that good, a pale imitation of what he was capable of. Like, structurally they kind of read like DOOM bars? but there's a striking lack of clever puns or complex multisyllabic rhyme schemes or double- and triple-entendre. It reminds me of this Kendrick bar from a month ago: "Even AI gotta practice cloning Kendrick/The double entendre, the encore remnant." It's much harder to get AI to do a Kendrick verse, a DOOM verse, a Lupe or Black Thought or your favorite rapper verse than it is to get a Drake verse. I don't know, even when AI reaches that point where it can replicate DOOM perfectly it feels kind of squicky. Creating an AI rap record is one thing; doing it to replicate the output of your favorite rapper, to put words into their mouth, feels really gross.
I absolutely agree with your analysis of the quality. It sounds surprisingly similar but pales in comparison to the real thing. I do appreciate seeing the steps involved in creating this though.
