'Destiny' arrived early on Bandcamp this week but landed on streaming services yesterday. DJ Sabrina is known for her prolific album releases, with a new album arriving at least once a year and often reaching many hours in length. 'Destiny' tops her other efforts at 4 hours runtime, longer even than 'Charmed' in 2020, which would be a mini-breakthrough release for Sabrina.

I worked my way through the full 4 hours this week and fans shouldn't be disappointment - a solid release without any hiccups throughout the entire runtime, but lacking in those memorable moments that were dotted throughout Charmed. For anyone looking to dip a toe in, 'Destiny' is a great album to dive into at any point, or listen to on shuffle - as I suspect it was intended. The title track was a standout for me.

DJ Sabrina's music is often described as somewhere between Daft Punk and the Avalanches, with samples almost exclusively coming from cheesy late 20th century nostalgic media. 'Next To Me', the opener of 'Charmed', is the perfect song to start with.

Raw celtic black metal + dungeon synth. Flutes!

Gritty black metal with war metal inspiration

Ghost At The Gallows by Spirit Adrift

More traditional heavy metal (singing vocals). Much more trad inspiration here. Bits of progressiveness too. But all very tasteful.

That album name is fun to say! It just has a fun ring to it. But in addition to that you're getting a mix of death/grind with old school influence. Soak up the grimy fun!

    Seeing Through Fire by Ringworm

New release by one of my favorite hardcore-leaning bands. A bit of punk feel to a lot of their tunes. These vocals are very polarizing. I absolutely love the rage and sound of these vocals but they can be a bit much for some- understandably. They're just so visceral, acidic, angry, and genuine.

Ringworm! Great band. Been lucky enough to see them a few times and meet the singer. Definitely will have to check that one out. Thanks for the head's up!
