They are always evolving and their last album Infinite Granite I would call basically a gamble as they completely changed their sound, moving away from harsh vocals and black metal-ish instrumentals to almost only clean vocals - their vocalist did singing lessons for quite some time to do it and he has a beautiful clean voice too. His harsh vocals are some of the best in the business and that has evidently not changed even slightly! Even the album cover art for this upcoming album is wildly different from previous ones. As an example of their progressiveness, the Sunbather album had a bright pink cover art which is unheard of in metal - I don't actually know that I've ever seen a metal album cover in pink.

Anyway, so much hype for this..! ..if it sounds like I'm gushing, that's because I am! One of my favourite metal bands of all time.

Was lucky enough to see them a few months before covid lockdowns.

Love Deafheaven, and I know their last release was somewhat provocative with how dramatically their sound changed but I did enjoy it. Definitely glad to see them come back to this style though....

It doesn't quite hit the same way as the others - or I guess the vibe is just that different. So yeah, very happy that it seems like they are going back. Favourite album is Ordinary Corrupt Human Love, Glint and Worthless Animal hit so hard!

Oh hell yes. Love deafheaven, but I'm more inclined towards their older stuff. I feel so lucky to have caught them at their Sunbather 10th anniversary tour, never thought I'd see those songs live....

I feel so lucky to have caught them at their Sunbather 10th anniversary tour, never thought I'd see those songs live. It was transcendental. Nearing the end of the set, they said something along the lines of "if you like this next song, you're gonna love the upcoming album". They then played black brick, so I guess it really was a good teaser!

    Hyped!

The Sunbather tour was excellent. I'm a huge Touche Amore fan too so seeing them again was fun.

Wow! This is their heaviest song by far. From the Kettle to the Coil is close but if the whole next album is Black Brick level, consider me not just hyped but superhyped! lol
