Very formative album for me, was my favorite album of all time for many years, saw them live a bunch (am from BC). I was volunteering for the uni radio station when hawaii dropped and we all just ate it up, as it was peak cancon at the time. :D
resolutions is one of my favorite songs on the album. I love most sides of said the whale, but I especially vibe with their moodier stuff? and resolutions definitely fits the bill.

I used to listen to Said the Whale over a decade ago when my taste in music was less informed (nothing against them, just they are a band I lost track of when I switched to Spotify and haven't returned to them until today). I remember Hawaii being released, but I tended to just listen to the album Howe Sounds. I listened to Resolutions, and honestly nothing stood out to me that made me compelled to listen to it again. So I decided to check out Howe Sounds again to see if Said the Whale is a band I am no longer interested in. Currently listening to This City's A Mess and there is more interesting components that intrigues me.
I am curious on your thoughts on what made you post this song in particular? Did something stand out to you that I missed?
I hadn't heard of Said the Whale before but it sounded pretty good a couple hours ago and I wanted to share that feeling. It's really as simple as that! After hearing this song a couple hours ago,...

After hearing this song a couple hours ago, I took a listen to the rest of hawaiii and it was pretty satisfying. I agree the track Resolutions is pretty weak in retrospect--especially the ending: a fade-out but it is not even the last track and the fade-out doesn't even sound completely intentional. Terrible.
But in isolation... it is a nice short introduction to Said The Whale. It got me listening to the rest of the album.
Yeah, I should listen to Hawaii again. I did take the time to relisten to most of Howe Sounds/Taking Albania and the album starts out strong but dips in quality/losses momentum (or maybe I was...

Also, if I recall correctly the song Out On The Shield was in an episode of Community at some point
