So, I discovered this, a band I somehow missed. You know how Daft Punk was (still sad to write that) making massive tributes to funk via sampling? Caravan Palace is doing that for jazz and swing....

Caravan Palace is doing that for jazz and swing. Robot Jazz. It's more prominent in their earlier work, as this album also seems to incorporate more modern R&B and rap.
Mirrors is a bop. You will have it on replay before the end of the day.

As a jazz/swing musician, we generally do not view it as a tribute, lol. It takes away most of what jazz is and the popularity of electro swing doesn't seem to translate to popularity of actual swing. It can be a bit annoying when someone hires your band to play at a Great Gatsby themed New Year's Eve party and most of the guests look at you with poorly hidden disappointment because when they saw "swing" on the invitation, they really thought "mainstream house with swing samples" and don't know what kind of boring music whatever we're playing is. (happened around 2018 I think when electro swing was more popular than these days).
I mean, not directly, but the path is much shorter and more direct there. I don't listen to ska anymore, but many years ago when I went to a relatively big ska-punk festival a couple times, it was...
Ska does not translate to a love of Big Band mostly.

I've been to dozens of concerts over the years, but I'll always remember that one as having, hands down, the most amped-up crowd I've ever seen. Everyone was LOSING IT for Caravan Palace, EVERYONE was dancing, it was one of the most fun concerts I've ever been to 🙂
Nice, I didn't know they had a new album. Going to listen to that today. Been following them off and on since 2012-2013 or so. Electric Swing Circus also has some good stuff now and then.

They've also got some fire music videos. Beautifully animated and trippy.
A couple favorites:
Or their horniest video: Miracle (NSFW)
Oh my god. I love that song but have never seen the music video. Pretty sure it's going to be burned into my memory every time I hear the song now.
Yeah haha the song is a total banger, I didn't know about the music video until much later either.

Yes. I would agree that there is likely little transitive properties.
