I'm from the US. Lived both in the Midwest (where there are no seaside towns) and also on one of the coasts. From driving down the west coast, there are definitely a handful of seaside towns that have a local candy/sweet shop, usually in touristy areas. even in the Midwest, smaller touristy towns usually will have one like this where they make local candy from scratch. I don't know that I've seen names printed into these candies like this but I have seen similar styles.

There's definitely some pretty good and inexpensive 4k ones available at 27", I just feel like at 27", the pixel density of a 1440p monitor is more than enough, and with 4k you're just using extra power for minimal gain, and then you'd likely need to re-scale your OS anyway otherwise everything will be too small.

Look for 144hz or higher refresh rate as well. It's a massive difference compared to 60hz. You can definitely see benefits going higher but they are diminished.

There's lots of good ones meeting that spec under $300, sometimes under $200.

I was kind of surprised to see Naperville, IL on there, but it kind of makes sense. Demographically, it's a high-income area and lots of parents. Most single people are probably in the neighboring towns like Aurora where it's more affordable, so this means the city itself has the highest congregation of high ad-value demographics.

This is my take as well. Seasons 1-3 wrapped up arcs very well and was a very great contained story. I'm hoping it doesn't go the way of other shows that overstayed their welcome because they kept wanting to cash in. I'll watch season 4 regardless with hopeful expectation, but I definitely feel like this was a show that did NOT need another season, despite how great the first 3 were.

It's not more prayer points, it means your prayer drains slower. The higher the prayer bonus on the armour, the slower your prayer will drain, the longer you can keep protection/other prayers up. And in leagues there's some pacts that will give you other benefits for having a high prayer bonus I believe. You can find out the prayer bonus by checking your armour tab and equipping an item, or looking it up on the wiki. The osrs wiki is insanely good and I highly recommend it.

Doesn't help early on when under leveled, but if you dip your toes into colosseum you can start getting Sunfire armour starting wave 4, which isn't too bad. Best prayer armour in the game.

Amox is a very beginner friendly boss and you can do it with mid level stats for sure. If you have melee at all, getting sulphur naguas can help a lot until you get the glacial temotlis.

I've been playing but doing a lot of travel so I went with endless harvest, it has been working great. I do kind of regret going blind bag, I hope they buff it. I went mage build 2 years ago, range last year, so I wanted to do melee this year and run some ToB. Thorns is looking to be so much more powerful than blind bag, I'm wondering I will need to respec. I was planning to run a long range nox hally build for inferno as well as other combat. Working on getting slayer up.

So far went Endless Harvey > Woodsman > Evil Eye > Transmutation >Natures Accord > Culling spree.

Planning to reload into larcenist possibly.

Overall I'm having fun but the early combat feels very underwhelming compared to previous leagues.

Do most people wash their rice in an actual pot? I've always washed mine in a strainer/sieve and then once it runs clear I would put it directly in the bowl. Saves wasting a bowl, the sieve just gets a quick rinse and it's clean again, and then you're not potentially damaging the Teflon coating.

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and now live in the PNW. After living here for almost 10 years, I can safely say I'm never moving back to the Midwest. Primary reasons:

    • Winters in the Midwest can be brutal. You mentioned the grey in Portland, I personally found I will take grey, drizzle, and lush greenery over the dead, brown, below freezing sun in Chicago. I do miss all the snow, but I don't miss how brown and dead and gross everything was.
    • Summers in Chicago can also get extremely hot compared to the PNW. I've been enjoying the much milder climate here. If you survived a year in Texas though, Chicago summers should be a breeze by comparison I imagine.
    • I love the mountains and hated how flat the Chicago area was, there wasn't as much outdoor adventure. Texas has a similar flatness to it so if you were fine with that, Chicago won't be a problem.
    • I have seasonal allergies that can be pretty bad, and the foliage in the PNW is much friendlier for them. This one probably doesn't apply to you.
    • I absolutely hate tornado season, and with climate change, it's only going to get worse. It's not as bad as the likes of Kansas or Nebraska, but we'd usually have a few tornado warnings per year and have to hide in the crawlspace. May not be as applicable in the city proper, but you can still get some nasty storms. I was only like 30 miles from the city. Don't get really get tornadoes in the PNW, though I do kind of miss the occasional thunderstorm.

Given what you described in your post, it sounds like you have a different set of priorities that may better suit you for Chicago living than it did me. If you're planning on living in Chicago proper rather than the suburbs, like any major city, there's good areas and bad areas. You'll be able to find a spot that suits you and there's much better public transit, especially if you want to live in the city proper. Chicago has a great food scene (though I've also always loved Portland's food as well), and there's no shortage of activities in the city proper.

I think while Chicago/Midwest isn't for me, it might be worth a try for you. Maybe give it a short stint and see how you vibe with it and then decide if you want to be there long term.

Honestly the build quality alone may sway a lot of people. Most laptops that I've seen in the $600 range have been plastic build (admittedly it's been a bit since I've been laptop shopping but I can't imagine with inflation the this range has gotten better in build quality). With student discount this even goes down to $500. It suddenly becomes a much more affordable and appealing option, especially if someone already has an iPhone.
