The fact that both of the runners left early is wild.
Apparently Scherzer was in the Blue Jays' duggout explaining what happened because he'd seen this situation once before. It's super bizarre but they got the call right based on the rule book.

I did just enable the adblocking and tested it out on mlb.com. It’s a night and day difference. I can’t believe how unusable that site is in safari, but then Firefox made it an actual usable and fluid website.

Does it mean you’re smart/a genius? Absolutely not. But I do think chess is a great game to help keep your mind active and sharp, and if not playing speed chess, probably does help with attention span.

That's a fair take and can probably agree with that. While I have been mostly on Android and barely ever used Siri on my work phone, I've heard it being extremely limited in its functionality as a common complaint.
I think I more took issue with how the author picked a task, that absolutely does not need AI in the slightest to complete, and used it as an example of a "transformation" in their workflow.
Better search indexing like you mentioned I think is where things can really shine if it gets integrated right.

Case and point, this thread about the upcoming Siri changes on r/apple
Reading through what this person did, I can't help think to myself, what is so goddamn hard about opening your iMessage chat with your uncle, scrolling up 3 texts, and replying to your uncle yourself?
Like seriously, are we that inconvenienced responding to people that this is what passes as a transformative use case? Like sure, it's impressive it is able to summarize it, but it's not useful to me in the slightest. It takes me longer to have this back and forth conversation with the agent. then go back and verify that it correctly identified my uncle's last request, and then verifying again on google that the road is actually closed. I guess if you don't care to verify if the information is accurate it maybe saves you the time of a quick Google search, but I am just utterly baffled that people want to interact with their phone/other people this way.

Like imagine if a company came out with a toaster that can scan the toast and laser toast everything evenly at a molecular level. It costs $1,000 base cost, $50/mo subscription to use, takes 5x as long to toast the toast, requires you to hand over all of your unrelated data so it can "curate" your toasting experience to your exact specifications, and uses more electricity in 10 minutes than my vacuum would in an hour. Like sure, from a technical perspective, that's probably extremely impressive it can do that to the toast on a molecular level. It probably does provide a superior toast at the end of the day. Is it worth all that extra cost and extra time for a vast majority of people? No. There's already a very simple solution available for a fraction of the cost. We don't need to overengineer this.
I know there are actually legitimate use cases for a lot of the AI stuff but the above example is how it feels seeing all of the AI stuff crammed into consumer items that it has absolutely no business being part of.

With that said, if I have to have an LLM as an assistant, the more localized I can keep it the better. I've been getting annoyed with Google anyway in many other areas so I'm fine making a switch away from them if needed.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding how it works but I thought those functions would require the Assistant to perform that function. I had all sorts of Android Auto issues when it was using Gemini originally before I figured out how to disable Gemini and have it switch back to the old Google Assistant.

And it's not just because the Dodgers keep buying everyone they can. I feel like a cap/floor has served hockey well with a lot of parity and teams having to get creative on how to spread out the money to field a competitive team. It has made for a lot of exciting seasons.
Not sure what it would look like in the MLB, I know players absolutely would not want it. And it's not even a "siding with the owners" thing, I'm siding with the fans and what I think would make the sport more exciting.

See, ads make me do the opposite, it triggers the inherent "this person is trying to sell me something I don't need" feelings and makes me avoid the product.
I have a friend I've known for a long time who has worked at Meta for over a decade. He's now working in their ads division I believe, and he was telling me about how some of the insights they look into is "what ads people want to see". To me that's an entirely foreign concept. The amount of ads I want to see is zero. How people actually want to see ads is beyond me. My other friend was completely baffled that I completely ignore all of the "in feed" ads and had no idea how I find what products to buy.
People's widespread acceptance of ads will always baffle me.
I am the exact opposite! I have played music most of my life, if I sit down at my piano and pull up some new music, I can probably try to slowly learn the music as it's written, but it is vastly easier for me to just improvise off the base notes/chords and figure it out from there. For some reason, I absolutely struggle to play what is written down, but improvising my own version of it based on the base notes/chords just comes naturally. This of course is highly dependent on genre, there are some genres that my brain is just not wired for, but it does hold true by and large.
