They already took steps to do that, you know, by creating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Why do these MAGA people always accuse the other side of doing exactly what they are trying...
In a letter addressed to Robert Iger, the chief executive of Disney, FCC chairman Carr said he wants to ensure that the media company "ends any and all discriminatory initiatives in substance, not just name".
They already took steps to do that, you know, by creating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Why do these MAGA people always accuse the other side of doing exactly what they are trying to do? By trying to end diversity initiatives, they are basically trying to ensure discrimination can take place again. I mean I know it's their end goal, it's insane to me that anyone can hear their absolute twisting of what DEI is and not tell how bat shit insane it is. I just don't understand on a fundamental human level how someone can look at a practice of trying to be equitable and inclusive of people, and think "nah, that's bad. We shouldn't do that".
I wouldn't be surprised if Disney backs down at some point, but generally speaking, if there's a company that you don't want to fuck with, it's the Mouse.
I think its because it makes it even more difficult to talk about the problem. They point fingers as they’re doing things, it makes anyone who says something about it look like they’re the ones...

I say this from experience, anything you try to tell a Trump supporter about what Trump is actually doing, they deflect and go “Biden did that, Obama did that, etc etc” anything to avoid talking about what Trump is doing.
This kind of rhetoric coming directly from Trump allows that argument to become easier to make, and this is how Trump supporters get trapped in blind loyalty.
I assume the hypocrisy of maga people is at least partly intentional. They are virtue signaling that anything done by the in group is acceptable and anything done by the out group must be...

The supposed problem with DEI is because it puts people in unearned positions based on some quality other than competence.
But look at Trump’s cabinet and think about whether any of them are qualified for their jobs. They are not. They are loyalists and sycophants and immoral and some of them have expressed a desire to undermine or remove the department that they head. Most lack experience for the position, or have obvious conflicts of interest.
I was going to list the problems with RFK, Hegseth, Gabbard and others but I don’t have time right now but anyone can review the controversies around their appointments and their actions in the last few months. Also Trumps Supreme Court picks were highly suspect for either ethical issues or lack of experience.
What regulation is he referring to? General EEO doesn't conflict with DEI afaik (unless being a young white male is added to the list of protected classes). And nothing else in relation to that...
"I want to ensure that Disney and ABC have not been violating FCC equal employment opportunity regulations by promoting invidious forms of DEI discrimination," [FCC Chairman Carr] said.
What regulation is he referring to? General EEO doesn't conflict with DEI afaik (unless being a young white male is added to the list of protected classes). And nothing else in relation to that applies to private companies, right?
You can still be discriminated against for being a white man, legally, that's always been on the table. Their argument is that "DEI practices" inherently do that. (Or whatever other vague language...

You can't be legally (in legal terms) discriminated against for being under 40 though. Age discrimination only goes one way.
yea, cause its the right that faces true cancel culture...... At this point, I fully expect them to launch a lawsuit against Nikole Hannah-Jones and Kimberlé Crenshaw

Feels like McCarthyism.

They probably will.
