Today I get a roof put on to my house! Hopefully, I'll be dried in by the end of this next week!

I just did a barrel tasting at Domaine de la Rominée-Conti. For my Bachelors degree, we are currently spending two weeks in Dijon to explore the Bourgogne region. I saw the visit to DRC ahead of time, but I thought for sure we wouldn’t be tasting. For those out of the loop, DRC is one of the highest priced wines in the world. Bottles routinely sell for tens of thousands of dollars. Tasting DRC has never been on my bucket list simply because I never thought it was an attainable goal. This was absolutely a once in a lifetime opportunity.

About 2-3 days ago I finished the most intense hike I've managed since I was a teenager. It wasn't really much of a trip; less than two miles all around, but it was very vertical. It honestly made me really emotional. These last few weeks I've been feeling very mixed up emotionally, a bit lost about what I've been doing lately. I've gained weight and have been feeling down again. Not nearly as bad as I've been last year, but still a bit lower than normal. Having a win really helped.

In the process of selling my house and god damn is it stressful when you're still actively living in the home. We have an inspection today and probably an appraisal next week, so this past week I've been going around fixing any little thing I can find (replaced a pool pump motor, dishwasher, and microwave, a couple of light bulbs that had burned out, cleaned up a bit around the outside, now I'm touching up the fence). I don't think the buyers are going to pull out of the deal or anything, but I just want to make sure that everything goes smoothly in the next few weeks before closing day. Oh and we're also in the process of moving our stuff over to the new place, which is exhausting as well. And also selling off a bunch of miscellaneous stuff that we don't want to take with us. And all of this while my wife and I are still working full-time jobs and taking care of a toddler. Suffice to say that it's been busy round here.

My partner and I are in the process of buying our first home and man oh man, the stress is real. So much financial information to go through, inspections, offer timelines, getting competitive lender quotes, the last few days have felt like a blur. We are probably putting an offer in on one today so hoping for the best!

Really wish I could just fast forward to like May and be done with it already, lol.

I spent several hours practicing clarinet this week after neglecting it for months. Saxophone is my main instrument but I'm determined to learn clarinet well enough to be able to double on it when the occasion arises. It's a cramped, squeaky little thing, but it feels like I'm finally starting to grasp it. I'm so spoiled by the modern design of the saxophone. I've hit the point where I really need to hire a private lessons teacher to make sure I'm not cementing bad habits, but funds are tight so I'm sticking to youtube and books for now

Well I was supposed to come home to an easy night, but partner, while in a loaner power chair, drove his leg into the latch for the van door and took a chunk out of his shin.

I got to find out that I'm still quite good in crisis, calling 911, keeping pressure on it, and ultimately driving him to the hospital in our wheelchair van with an EMT alongside him (we actually stopped halfway to meet up with a paramedic as well but by then my partner was in less distress. ) He's been stitched up, now we're back home and his shoe and sock that were still soaked got tossed in the wash. Also he now owns pants that are half cut-off shorts and I think that's hilarious.

Don't love having blood on my hands though, especially his and I'm going to take a Benadryl* and go to bed. Happy weekend.

*Sleep with Benadryl is less good than regular sleep, it is however, sleep.
