My apologies, I reread your description and do think you tried to make the wound part clear. Thread and stitches have a strong repair connotation in my head and that influenced my read of the piece

First off - bravo for seeking critique. It was one of my least favorite parts of art classes at school even though it was helpful.

AugustusFerdinand's thoughts on Bound are similar to mine so I don't have much to add to it other than I think the content of polaroids is uncomfortable, which seems to be what you're going for based on its description. Adjusting the scale and shape of the thread would elevate the piece.

I like Gash and think it's clever, but the stitch direction bothers me. Stitches generally go across/perpendicular to the cut, not along it. Think like the scars often shown on Frankenstein's monster. Obviously not the end of the world and I think your intention still shows, but it stood out to me. Of course, a poorly done repair might support the message you're going for

I'm still trying to learn how to paint* with soft pastels in a looser, more painterly style. I followed a tutorial for this peony and I'm quite happy with it, but I'm having trouble bringing that sketched, broken edged technique into my other paintings.

Like, this gosling I drew from a reference image turned out cute, but I feel like I slipped back into my comfort zone of replication instead of the more impressionistic style I'm trying to learn. I tried to correct that by adding some color and making the grass a bit more interesting. Going, forward I'm going to try alternating guided tutorials with independent practice to see of that helps.

I've begrudgingly hopped back onto instagram to see what others are doing with soft pastels and hoo boy, it's overwhelming. There's some genuinely awesome work on there but the app just buries it in garbage. I'm trying to convince the algorithm to show me work from actual people, but it may be a lost cause.

*Sidenote - "paint" is apparently the proper verb according to actual pastel artists, but it feels weird to say I'm painting with a dry, chalk-like medium. I guess I've always equated paint with wet

A very vibrant lemon. I'm learning how to use soft pastels from youtube tutorials (shoutout to Alain Picard for the lemon lesson). I've always been drawn to the loose, broken lined, and heavily textured style (which I've learned is called "painterly") that is possible with the medium. I'm struggling a bit because most of my drawing experience prior to this involved trying to replicate what I'm referencing exactly, so I feel like my attempts at intentional imprecision (for lack of a better word) don't look very authentic yet. Hoping it improves with practice but I'm having fun making a mess in the meantime

Can't say I'm surprised. Consider it another point on the I-probably-should-get-tested list. I did waffle a bit on my answer to the question about someone giving you unclear instructions. I ended up selecting the "quietly distressed" option, but, if I am comfortable with the person, I would ask for clarification once. If the second response was still unclear, I would then fall in the quietly distressed camp as it would feel inappropriate to ask again. Kind of like asking someone to repeat themselves when you didn't hear them, and just smiling and nodding if you still can't make out what they said

A saxophone quartet. Local community band has a small ensemble event every year. The event coordinator kept telling me it would be cool to have a sax group... People in our (rather large) sax section kept telling me would be cool to have a sax group... Random strangers kept telling me it would be cool to have a sax group... like, okay? Maybe y'all should put together a sax group, then? But no, nothing happened until I gave in and organized one last year. Now I'm organizing a group for this year. I don't even play a lead instrument.

(I grumble, but it is a lot of fun. Just feels like hearding cats sometimes)

I have a similar issue but it's chewing/mouth noises. I wouldn't have described myself as someone with misophonia, but holy crap my newish desk neighbor changed that. They like to have a candy sucker or piece of gum in the afternoons and really savor the heck out of it. The accompanying noises make me want to pull my hair out. I can't wear noise canceling headphones due to the nature of my job and it's wrecking me. Like your situation, no one else seems to notice

Just finished up The Seven Dials Mystery by Agatha Christie this morning. One of my book club friends recommended the Netflix show but mentioned that she wished she had read the book first, so in the queue it went. It's the second book in a series, so I read The Secret of Chimneys first. I enjoyed Chimneys but it didn't blow my mind or anything. Seven Dials, however, surprised me with just how funny it was. I'm used to some humor in Christie's books, but this one was chock-full of dry humor and satire about the British elite and I really enjoyed it. Bundle's conversations with her father literally had me laughing out loud.

As with many Christie mysteries, your chances of completely solving the mystery are low since the author saves the juiciest tidbits for the reveal, but it's a fun ride and she is generous enough with clues that you can at least pick up on most of the twists.

They're basic, but the creative pebble V2 might fit the bill. I don't think they have a headphone port, but they are small, wired, and have a volume knob that also functions as an off switch. I have some and they work fine when I use them, but I usually default to wired headphones so it would depend on your use case. They look nice and fit under the shelf on my desk, which was my primary requirement when speaker shopping
