What have you been listening to this week?
What have you been listening to this week? You don't need to do a 6000 word review if you don't want to, but please write something! If you've just picked up some music, please update on that as well, we'd love to see your hauls :)
Feel free to give recs or discuss anything about each others' listening habits.

Listened to a lot of Korean music this week as I was on a road trip and YouTube Music decided to just bombard me with that haha. I did get a variety of genres but everything was from Korean artists.
Highlights:
Different - Le Sserafim - Probably my favorite song of the bunch. Super groovy bass, catchy melody, and vibrant rhythm, what's not to love?
Discord - QWER - Bold pop song with a catchy guitar riff and energetic instrumentation. I've heard about QWER for a while but never gave them a listen until now. Definitely recommend.
Right Now - NewJeans - Been a fan of NJ for a while and its a shame what's happened to the group. That being said though, this is a great little song. Love the drum and bass in this.
And finally,
Waikiki - MEMI - Funky guitar, leaning into rock territory with a nice drum beat, fun song overall! Been listening to MEMI a lot more recently and I love her work..
I’m finding myself listening to more classical music. Apple has a dedicated Classical app, separate from the Music app. I’ve been giving it a shot. Was listening to the Baroque station. Sometimes it’s nice not to have any lyrics and just enjoy the melody.
In general, I find myself slowly shifting away from some old favorites (heavy metal) and more into more calming music. I love metal and I don’t think I’ll ever stop listening to it, but I’m more picky as to when I do.
This is really interesting because me, a usually pretty hardcore heavy/death metal head, found myself listening to lots of Bach and Strauss this week. And crocheting to it, just vibing and listening. It's been nice, though I still lean towards death metal for work lol
You can always combine the two with some Haggard! https://album.link/ca/i/633535575
Been listening to electronic music only it seems.
Joy Orbison - play it again
The chopped up reversed vocal samples and UK garage beats are my weak spot. For more like this, I remember recommending Burial’s Dreamfear EP in a previous posting.
Lane 8 - The Remedy
Together with play it again on repeat. The hypnotizing repeating vocal sample just is something else. For another example of that vibe, see Chevals - My Love My Kisses (although it’s quite a different track)
Weval - CHOROPHOBIA
Finally got to listen to the new Weval (Sept 5th) release. Movement, Just Friends, Head First, Better, are some of my favorites. Even better is just listening tot the album front to end.
It is more dancier than their previous work, while still having that Weval feel, with synthesizer infused and spacey sound.
Tuba Skinny. They're a New Orleans street band that plays old jazz and ragtime music. I don't know much about jazz music but Tuba Skinny has hit me where I needed it recently.
The Arsonist | Sodom
Lord of Two Horns | DRAWN AND QUARTERED | Nuclear Winter Records
LYKOFOS | LYKOFOS
Ekstasis of Subterranean Currents | Thanatorean
Pruning of the Lower Limbs | Moving Mountains
Straight to the Domes of Your Heads | Turnpike
Also Lo Tom and No Cure
I did a listen of Klaus Schultze's first four albums yesterday while working on an electronics project - very fitting.
Also, I came across The Sad Realm Of The Stars by Odium along with Epitome Of Illusions by Limbonic Art. They're both synth-heavy symphonic Black metal from the 90s. Once I get into that mood I can't get enough.
New Dimond Saints album Broken Mirrors out Oct.3. This is another very strong release by Adam and Reece. Dimond Saints (yes, Dimond, not Diamond. Named after the Dimond District in Oakland, CA) has been one of Adam's most successful projects with 10+ years of solid releases.
Deep, Brooding, Dark Bass music for the soul.
