The official release is March 18, but it's available to listen to early! Sturgill Simpson is one of the few people in modern country music that I actively listen to and this album is really great.

Is this better than the last few albums? I didn't enjoy them as much as the first three, and I've kinda drifted away from listening to Sturgill much as a result.
This is much closer to the only Sturgill album I've enjoyed (not into country), Sound & Fury, but that might just be that I prefer dark western and I listened/watched the movie/short film music video while on a particular strange and wonderful trip a few years ago. 10/10 experience, highly recommend.
i think most people who go to "This is Sturgill Simpson" on Spotify are gonna be kinda over it after ten minutes or so lol—for anyone who doesn't love cowboy anime, i don't know if this particular playthrough is on an album or not but it's choice, as is his cover of The Promise from MSCM. For me, I just wanna split a case of natural light with the guy.
Oh man, I hear it but if you haven't checked out a Sailor's Guide to Life I highly recommend it. In Bloom is an amazing cover, Keep It Between the Lines is just so fun, and Pollywog is very, very heartfelt. Though Metamodern Sounds in Country Music is still my favorite.
Honestly, him and Charley Crockett are the only two modern Country singers, or really any country singers, I enjoy.
Oh I know and love that one. I liked the first 3 albums, and that was the third.
Update: Guess this was a sneak peak and the link is now dead.
I've never much cared for most country music but I did get a kick out of his spin on Nirvana:
