Looks like it's topping the steam charts, awesome to finally see such a successful Godot Engine game. I just finished my first act1 victory, fun game!

I finished Mountain in the Sea. It was much better than I expected, lots of fun things to think about and deals with something close to what I've always wondered: If we met advanced aliens could we really be able to communicate at any meaningful level? Most non-horror sci-fi just assumes yes but if we still can't communicate well with other intelligent creatures on this planet right now I have my doubts.

I just started book one of The Stormlight Archive and I was a bit confused at first but it became a lot more interesting after chapter 3. I'm sure I'll like it more the further I get.

Nice! How did you like it? It's probably not quite in my top10 sci-fi list but I thought it was still well worth the read.

Wow, I never even considered how scholars back then would be much more likely to be familiar with multiple shifting languages. I suppose a part of why not many of us are now is our ultra-specialization and easy access to translation resources.

Maybe if we ever perfect cryogenics we'll be able to find out how far language symbols can last. ..or just wind up in Idiocracy with many regrets. :)

I wonder what the reverse would be like; how far back could you go before an educated reader from that time would be completely unable to parse any modern English?

Such a loss. Red Dwarf has long been my favorite show, and Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers one of my favorite books. I do hope the book he wrote recently still gets released this year.

Another christian science fiction author I did enjoy was Stephen R. Lawhead's two-novel Empyrion series. It's about a history author trying to piece together what happened to a colony while trying to survive in what remains of its people and crazy society. I don't know anyone else who's read it even though it did win some awards when it came out in the 80s.

I put a lot of hours into this game a few years ago and was super impressed that a small team could make such a compelling MMO on a low budget. A huge amount of charm in the game is the humorous writing, obscure skills and very funny boss curses. Her hand in that I'm sure helped to make it the success it has become.

*Edit: I just noticed the date on the article is from last year but I only just heard about it, sorry for any confusion.

It's still pretty cold there though, I guess we should try northern Greenland instead. Nobody seems happy about that though. How about colonizing Detroit, is that even survivable?

I did have a lot of fun with 2-player Gloomhaven though it's a bit more tactical and can be a bit of a commitment to setup.

Far Away is another great 2-player co-op game where you get to role-play the enemies, the missions are much shorter though.

There is something about his writing that no matter how terrible things are for his characters it never feels stressful. If I have to take a break and pick it up later I know I'll always feel better for it afterwards.

Cool game! It might also be fun to have a challenge mode where it doesn't tell you the word. Or there could be multiple words and points based on how many you find with the least moves!

I'll be watching out to see if this improves/cheapens internet connectivity in poorer or more remote communities.

I know somebody who was able to get hooked up to Starlink when it first launched. He is disabled and lives on a native american reservation that was never able to get its own proper highspeed lines. It's certainly made a lot more things possible for him.

I do worry given the nature of the tech that service quality will degrade the more people who hook up to it. The company might also go public this year and that could start to effect the price and quality before too long.
