I also had never heard the song before the cover either, so went looking for the original and wound up listening to it and a bunch of Raconteurs stuff... but honestly, I actually like the cover version better than the original. Carolina Drama is awesome though.
The White Stripes was being played virtually everywhere here in Canada in the late 90s... but I never heard anything by The Raconteurs being played in the 00s though.

I'm envious, you couldn't go a few hours in my area in the late '00s without hearing SASG from somewhere, whether it be ads, stores, or the radio.
