These oft-overzealous algorithms are particularly fine-tuned for the job of sniffing out the sonic idiosyncrasies of pop music, having been trained on massive troves of “reference” audio files submitted by record companies and performing rights societies. But classical musicians are discovering en masse that the perceptivity of automated copyright systems falls critically short when it comes to classical music, which presents unique challenges both in terms of content and context. After all, classical music exists as a vast, endlessly revisited and repeated repertoire of public-domain works distinguishable only through nuanced variations in performance. Put simply, bots aren’t great listeners.

Perhaps this is a market opportunity that someone can snatch up, and provide a competing online service to classical musicians? I grant that one of the main benefits of using traditional social media is easy, broad reach, but I still wonder if a competitor can be offered.

For things that seemingly dominate a person's interests when they pick it up as a hobby, a segregated platform might work.

For other things, the Facebooks, Twitters, Twitches, Youtubes etc. have so large network effects within the communities they're prevalent, that it's extremely hard to see how that's going to be significantly uprooted. Myspace and the other failed networks are tiny compared to the behemoths of today.

Would Twitch work? I don't use it myself. Or maybe Zoom could get into live performances?
