This is the fourth day they've done this, but they haven't announced yet if they're going to do it again next month, so this might be the last one. As of the time I'm posting, there's a little less than 13 hours left before it ends, exact countdown here.

I like bandcamp but I wish they would upgrade their player and add some better social features. I feel like they could become a sort of mix of last.fm, spotify, rateyourmusic and soundcloud. They already have a lot of stuff in but it's not properly exploited, for example you can write a review for an album you bought but only a few are displayed and it's a pain to navigate. You also have a profile page where people can see what you listen to but it's really bare bone, etc. Most of the time I buy whatever I'm interested in and then leave the site.

I know you probably don't mean anything specific by this, but I think exploitation in the music industry is exactly the sort of thing Bandcamp is trying to avoid.

I agree, I think that’s exactly what makes Bandcamp so good.

Half-backed is maybe a better word. I don't think the site is really minimal, it's just that a lot of the features aren't very good so people don't use them.
