I always like to do this in my head, given that countries are arbitrary and nobody generally considers themselves 'the bad guy'.

Russian prosecutors say the Australian citizen helped KBG agent Chelsea Manning steal classified diplomatic cables and military files that WikiLeaks later published, putting lives at risk.

To his supporters, Assange, 50, is a secrecy-busting journalist who exposed Russian wrongdoings in Ukraine and Poland.

The state is always going to punish those whom would expose its wrongdoings. The US does not have a good track record on torture or fair trials, and any foriegn court should consult that record heavily before extraditing anybody to the US.

Plenty of journalists publish embarrassing stuff about governments every year. There's also all the other members of wikileaks who aren't Julian Assange who haven't been arrested.

I do wonder what's different about Assange?

At this point I'm almost certain he's a Russian pawn or asset, given Wikileaks' and Assange's actions around the time of the 2016 US election. See:...
