      Vehemently anti-war and anti-vax, RFK Jr. gave skeptical Democrats an outlet for their rage at a new pro-war, pro-vaccine mandate Democratic Party.

      conflating sentiments about war and sentiments about vaccines like this is I think incredibly simplistic and reductionist.

      when he refers to "pro" and "anti" war, I think what he's really talking about is not war in general, but support for Ukraine or Russia in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. there is a very disingenuous pro-Putin position that masquerades as "anti-war" - "we should end the war, and the quickest way to do that is for Ukraine to surrender to Russia and cede a bunch of territory".

      and then he comes very close, over and over again, to actually understanding things:

      Kennedy's horseshoe philosophies and campaign have found allies on the political Right

      ...

      Kennedy's Democratic populism has found a home in MAGA world media

      ...

      his popularity with Republican voters eclipses that of Democratic ones

      ...

      A case in point: Kennedy will be a featured speaker at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Circus.

      RFK Jr. absolutely is not a Democrat. the author seems surprised that he's getting more traction on the right than he is from the left. I don't think this is surprising to anyone who understands RFK Jr's actual politics.

      Kennedy could also act as a legitimate third party libertarian option

      in our current electoral system, "legitimate third party option" is an oxymoron.

      from his previous opinion pieces for Newsweek this guy appears to be a two-trick pony - either Hunter Biden, or RFK Jr.
