Do you know what a silencer(doesn't exist) suppressor does? What its purpose is? I suggest that if you researched a bit you wouldn't have to ask "what the hell" someone would need one for.

Here in Australia, citizens do not carry guns as a matter of course. Most people in Australia do not own guns. Guns are highly regulated here. Gun ownership is generally restricted to a few types of people: police, farmers, sportspeople, collectors, and criminals.

So... in this context... what does a citizen need a silencer for?

Even in a place where guns were more common, why would an ordinary person need to suppress the noise of their gun? That implies a degree of sneakiness, of stealth, of wanting to shoot someone without it being traced back to them. Why is this desirable? If you're going to shoot someone, you should bloody well be held responsible for it, rather than trying to hide it!

However, I'm still against them, as the threat they can pose is greater than their utility in my opinion. (Also from Australia, but from the country so a fair few of my neighbours use guns for pests)

Hint: suppressors have nothing to do with "wanting to shoot someone without it being traced back to them."

I did my research. Now tell me why Australians need to silence their guns. Silencers are already legal for police and security officers here.

The only other use case I can see is for farmers. To repeat Batcow's original question, what the hell does a citizen need a silencer for?

This is why I don't explain things and instead tell people to look it up. Because even if I did, I'd get garbage like this back. Can't change closed opinions tho they contradict facts.

You two might disagree, but there's no reason to be such a dismissive asshole about it.

You didn't actually provide any facts. And I'm pretty sure that your opinions about guns and gun control are just as closed as mine, even if they're different. ;)

They're already banned. Rightfully so in my opinion.
