Am I that much out of the loop, I have no idea what a humanist wedding is.
It's a wedding conducted by a celebrant who's registered as a Humanist, as opposed to a Christian or Jewish or Muslim celebrant (priest, rabbi, imam respectively). Humanism is a non-religious atheist philosophy. Some people want non-religious weddings. People are therefore registering as Humanist celebrants.
Ahh that makes sense, honestly super surprised it's just happening now. I thought the ceremony was just that a ceremony and you made it official at a public office or something.
