    On a more serious note I wonder if Tories will learn from this. Is there an equivalent of Fox news in the UK?

    UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson thanked those who saved his life as he left hospital on Sunday, saying "things could have gone either way" for him.

    Johnson, who was admitted a week ago for "persistent" Covid-19 symptoms, added in a video posted to Twitter that "it's hard to find the words to express my debt."
    "The PM has been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery, at Chequers," Johnson's spokesperson said, referring to the PM's official country residence.

      We've had years and years of "you can do more with less", and the real fear is that conservatives will look at the response during covid (when we shut down or reduced a bunch of services[1]) and ask "Do we really need them?"

      [1] This is just "community services": https://www.england.nhs.uk/coronavirus/wp-content/uploads/sites/52/2020/03/C0145-COVID-19-prioritisation-within-community-health-services-1-April-2020.pdf

          Conservatism is a pretty consistent ideology: Whoever has the power gets to keep it, all else be damned.

        I didn't really say the party, more so their voters. Is the Telegraph the UK equivalent of Fox?

          To give an overview of the UK newspapers.

          There are 2 tiers of newspaper in the UK and I'd say the better quality top tier are The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, The Independent. They're sometimes referred to as broadsheets because they used to be printed on larger sized paper. Politically the Telegraph and Times are right wing (which mean they align closer with the Conservative party) and The Guardian and Independent are more left wing aligned closer to the Labour Party.

          The lower tier papers, often referred to as tabloids, are what I think give the UK press such a bad reputation. They include The Sun, The Daily Mail, The Express and The Mirror. I'd group all of them in on the same level of Fox news but in particular The Sun and The Daily Mail are worse than the other two by quite a long way. I'd say if you want to think of a single equivalent of Fox news it would be The Daily Mail

          To give you some perspective this is my opinion and my political leaning is toward the Guardian and The Independent and I despise the tabloid press in the UK.

          @Kuromantis too.
