That Foldscope showcased in the video is such an awesome idea! I still remember the first time I looked under a microscope in school way back when, and how incredibly interesting it was. It's one thing to read about microorganisms and whatnot in textbooks, or see still images of them, but to be able to see them moving around in a microscope with your own eyes is a truly mind-expanding experience. So having such a low cost, portable, but still surprisingly powerful (140X) kit like that to give to school kids (and even adults) in developing nations is amazing. And apparently they have sold over 1.6M already, with sales of the individual kits helping subsidize their classroom kits.
