What about this title is clickbait? (genuine question) IMO, just because a title is worded slightly enticingly, and doesn't explicitly state results or conclusions in it, doesn't necessarily make it clickbait... clickbait is when a title misrepresents the contents of an article to get readers to click it, or is over the top in the 'bait' aspect. E.g. "You won't believe what this study found!"
But I'm still willing to change the title to something better, if you can suggest an appropriate one that fits within the 200 char limit.
I mean if you dont think it's clickbait then that's fine. I'm not incredibly invested in this hah. I'll just adjust my comment so that it simply reflects the answer to the title, and that'll be my...

Edit: oh and to answer your question, if I have to be very specific and nitpicky it's the "these" in the title. If the title had been "Nature's investigation into university retraction rates" it wouldn't have bothered me at all. But the "these" is exactly the kind of come-click-on-meeeeee stuff that just grinds my gears
Eh. I'm fully willing to admit I may have a far more narrow definition of clickbait than is healthy. But I think even I would struggle to fit all that info into a <200 char title. So if you do...

Imma be honest - usually I just give cfabbro the answer to what the title of an article is clickbaiting, and they plop down an appropriate headline that's usually better than my suggestion :p
But yeah I'd suggest something along the lines of my comment - clear concise answer so that people can read the article for more details but they don't have to deal with infuriating clickbait :)
@cfabbro, anticlickbait buddy :)?Universities in question:

Edit: removed the title change request

I don't think it's click bait per se, but I think "exclusive" is just an unnecessary word here that is intended to inflate the sense of urgency.
Yeah, good point. I removed the Exclusive from the title.

I just took the headline from the article. Do you have ideas for how you would have rewritten it?
Oh yes no shade to you, apologies if it came across that way!
