Great material, but the editing of the video was pretty weird. It would switch cameras, microphones, and even settings in mid sentence, and used strange angles on occasion, like profiles where it wouldn't really make sense, or up-the-nose shots from a camera on a podium.

Gordon usually cuts his videos together from a lot of less than ideal sources, so he's mainly concerned with finding the least-bad audio for any given conversation. That's why it jumps around a lot between sources, and it's common in many of his other videos. Thing is, there's almost no other sources for this information. Without him, we'd have little firsthand information about this stuff. He's made invading nuclear conferences his mission.

It's hard to give a quick summary of this talk because they cover a hell of a lot of ground - physics, chemistry, reactor concepts, politics, regulations, the futility of carbon taxes, the true costs of wind and solar, debunking proliferation myths, and new areas of application for nuclear power. I just thought people might enjoy seeing how much progress has been made recently. Check the time stamps under the video description for links to specific topics.

More adventuresome investors who are putting money into emerging technologies are putting it into less controversial, more glamorous technologies. On the flip side, typical investors in the industry are extremely risk averse, and won't even look at emerging technologies because all they care about are proven returns.

I suspect the other part is that the red tape scares away potential investors. There will always be red tape, no matter what you're building. And that's not a bad thing. But there is just so much more when it comes to nuclear technology. I would suspect a lot of potential investors look at nuclear technology and decide it's not worth navigating the legal labyrinth.
