This seems to be a good summary of a lot of things that have been said in various ways since about 2016. There’s been quite a bit written about trump’s mental illness, and a lot about the destructive nature of modern media, especially social media, but less said about how it takes a sick society to pick a sick leader and the feedback loop that is happening. I’ve been grappling with the decline of ethics and empathy in society and politics for a while and this video shows the direct connection.

Personality disorders are only a problem for an individual when he is trying to get along with other people in a way that is mutually beneficial. If you lived alone on an island, most personality disorders wouldn't matter. Also, leaders often don't suffer the normal ill effects of their disorders. Trump continues to do the behaviors that he does because he is rewarded for the behavior. Why would he stop? From his perspective, he's the most powerful and important person in the whole world, and it's precisely because of his disorder. As the video says, he isn't burdened by empathy so he doesn't feel bad for the damage he causes.
The most important thing is to never let a person like that get into power. This is covered in the video. The second most important thing is to realize that the rest of us are in a prisoner's dilemma with him, and you should never reward him unnecessarily. The only strategy that he can understand is tit-for-tat. Senator Schumer should have understood this when he and 9 other democrats voted yes on the spending bill. There is a long line of people who caved in to Trump and paid for it later. Sometimes in the same day.
