The Icelandic government has a level headed and measured response to a referendum with a large showing. People seem to have been decently informed and had a choice to start a process that isn't binding and decided against it by just over half of the votes.

The responses by users under this article are anything but level headed and measured. From calling the EU communist to saying the EU is illegal, we get all the good ones.

They point out that Lichtenstein only has 40k people, but Iceland is only 400k people. Compared to Norway’s 5.6m people, neither other party is significant. The EEA already is functionally a bilateral agreement between Norway and the EU, with some rounding errors attached to it.
