Any fans of the CFL on here?
I've lived in Canada my entire life and am a huge fan of the Canadian Football League. I cheer for the Elks, although there hasn't been a lot to cheer for lately. Anyone else on here a fan?
Yeah, I'm a CFL fan. I don't watch a ton of football, but whenever I do it's almost always the CFL. The only time I ever really watch American football is the superbowl.
I don't really have a favorite team, but I did get to meet Doug Flutie and go on field before a game back when I was a kid and the Argos played at Skydome. (A family friends girlfriend knew him from college, so they took me, my brother and a couple other kids to see a game).
That must have been an amazing experience! Did you know who he was or was he just some guy to you at that point?
Yeah, we knew who he was. It was pretty awesome. He met us before the game and took us down the back way through some service elevators to get down to field level before hanging out for a bit. We got to meet Mike Clemons before the game briefly too. That guy had so much energy, even off the field, you could tell the knickname pinball wasn't just a football reference.
Truthfully, I've always watched the NFL. However, after conspiring with my brothers and father this past fall, I found myself on a plane heading out to see the Grey Cup.
Overall, it was an incredible experience. The biggest difference I found between the two leagues was the much faster pace of the Canadian game. It definitely piqued my interest in becoming a fan. Sadly, it doesn't seem like there's a good streaming option.
That's to bad they don't stream to the states. I know the do broadcast some of the games now though. I think it's on CBS?
