Appreciate Wendover covering this. CTE is, in my opinion a big problem for a large number of football players. Not just the pros. Considering more people play in college and high school than the NFL I think those players often go un-diagnosed. Anecdotal evidence, for sure, but I have a lingering feeling based on my experience. Pretty sad but expected how the NFL hasn't done much, materially, to change the potential impact of this condition for its players. Surprised the NFL players union has pushed for more to be done. Then again, as stated in the video - that runs counter the entire purpose and fundamental mechanics to the game. This is part of the reason why I stopped supporting my team. Well, and shitty billionaire owners.
I'm a pretty large man. Much larger in the past. I tried playing D1 college ball as a lineman and decided it was not for me. I could have walked on, but no scholarship, all of the work of being on the team and school was not worth it. If I have kids, they will not be playing football. The toll it takes on your body is awful and I really don't want that for my kids.
