this whole story has been bizarre from the beginning, and it doesn't really show signs of every having a satisfactory conclusion because it reeks of underfunded and underdeveloped police departments having to cobble together some satisfactory explanation for why one of their most famous expatriates was shot to a government which has at best credibility problems and at worst no ability to be taken seriously by its own citizens. judging by the article though, it seems like wanting and actively seeking a satisfactory conclusion to this story is a much more american priority than a dominican one, which kinda speaks i guess to the nature of policing and corruption in the dominican republic even though it's not an exceptionally violent or crime-filled place.
