UEFA Champions League Post Semis/Pre Finals discussion thread
Behind a 4-0 rout at Anfield to put down Barcelona and a 95th minute miracle by Lucas Moura the stage is set for the Champions League finals. I think this thread could be useful just to open up discussion on ~sports. What are your guys' thoughts on the finals or semi-finals? Any predictions?
In my opinion this is one of the greatest semi rounds I could remember, absolutely insane performances by all the teams and nail biting football all the way through.
EDIT : On the 1st of July the Tottenham Hotspurs will play Liverpool at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano
is this the first time having 2 English teams in the final in a long time? I remember thinking English teams would perennially underperformed on the biggest changes, when I used to lightly follow UCL. Maybe that's no longer the case.
I was about to say not that long ago, but it’s been 11 years. The last time was 2008 when Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties. What a glorious night that was. There have been several all-Spanish and one all-German since then.
Spanish teams have definitely been the most dominant in Europe the last decade primarily due to the Messi/Ronaldo era (and also great Atleti squads under Simeone). The balance of power is definitely in transition right now though IMO.
