    Recommended even to those without any interest in or understanding of NASCAR. I myself don't particularly care for the sport, but I was engrossed by this video essay/documentary on the history of the Talladega Speedway, and the "curse of Talladega." Excellently put together.

    Though I don't watch Nascar now, it will always have a special place in my heart. I used to watch races with my dad. It was rare we'd miss the Dayton 500, Talladega, or the Brickyard 400. This was a fun throwback to the nostalgia of those days. I think Talladega is one of the Nascar events I would attend just to see the show of it.

    I don’t know if the video addresses it, but Talladega is legendary among fans for the off track activities. I’ve never been, but the stories are, well, think woodstock for good old boys.

    And the pit, well, think backstage at a Led Zeppelin concert in 1971.
