Makes you wonder why the PGA did all that moral grandstanding only to cave <1 year after the inaugural LIV event.

I think the Majors viewership had a big role to play in this decision. Yes, the Majors already get the most viewers, but I feel way more people watched this year due to the fact that it essentially became PGA vs. LIV. I'll be real curious to see how this all plays out for the tour moving forward.

That's true of the Masters and probably due in part to PGA vs. LIV story lines, but the PGA Championship Sunday viewership this year was the lowest since 2008. It's hard to compare the Masters...

That's true of the Masters and probably due in part to PGA vs. LIV story lines, but the PGA Championship Sunday viewership this year was the lowest since 2008. It's hard to compare the Masters with other majors because it's more of a cultural phenomenon, plus they make streaming so easy and freely available.

I think it comes down to weighing the outcomes of litigation. My speculation is that the PGA wasn't confident in defeating LIV’s anti-trust case or didn't wanna roll the dice and find out when the alternative was near-infinite cash while still maintaining a controlling interest. I also believe the LIV accepted this outcome because they weren't confident in their own tour's prospects in competing directly against the PGA long-term.

Well I’m sure the guys who didn’t jump ship for a paycheck from LIV are kicking themselves now.

That's one of many things that bother me about this situation. Think about Will Zalatoris. He was offered 7 figures to join LIV, but he stayed with the PGA because he was playing really well and getting so close to his first major victory. Now he's out the rest of this season due to back surgery with no guarantee that he'll ever get back to the level he was at last year.

Yep. Tiger passed up basically a 10 figure deal only for a year later this to happen. That's got to be rough.
