    I'm sure there are a ton of athletes like this, I can't even imagine the stress to perform at a high level consistently for millions of fans who will turn on players in a second.

    And to see what people on social media say about you if you perform poorly . . . I wonder how they deal with that emotionally. People say they ignore it but there is no way they can ignore everything.

      As a Mets fan I can point to Matt Harvey as a good example. He thrived on the adulation when he was striking out the world. But the injuries took their toll, his performance dropped off and he got booed off the mound several times. There were a couple of games last season when he looked like he was going to cry. Getting traded to the Reds for a fresh start must have been such a relief for him.

    I think the fact that Arrieta is doing so well is what is causing some of the feelings going on right now too.
