Thoughts on the NBA playoffs so far?

What's been surprising? Favorite plays/players right now? Think anyone is gonna beat the Warriors this year?

For the East, I don't think anyone has the depth (except maybe the Bucks) to go against the Warriors. Embiid or Kawhi would have to have incredible series to take the Warriors down, whereas the Bucks have Giannis, Middleton, Bledsoe, Mirotic, and Gasol who can all make useful contributions.

you're more generous than i am! despite both of them being pretty good and not matching up that poorly against golden state, i'd probably give the blazers 1 game, and the nuggets 0. neither of them screams "real contender" to me any more than houston does, and houston's series is basically on the ropes contingent on their game 3.

I second that. I didn't think Houston would be folding this much to the Warriors, but I think that speaks more to just how good the Warriors are moreso than Houston is bad or anything like that.

I think it's less that the Blazers and Nuggets are real contenders and more that the Warriors are prone to slacking and losing a game every series.

I agree that the Bucks probably have the best depth to compete against the Warriors-- a lot of unbearable 'Celtics in 5!' fans are magically silent now and kind of see that they're not favored...

Sixers have a good starting five, but a terrible bench. Raptors outside of Kawhi just aren't showing they're up to snuff either and I think the Sixers are really exposing that. As a Sixers fan, if we can beat the Raptors I think we'll have beat expectations.

My post didn't age well and Lowry showed up. We have a series! (shit)

Good luck! The East is shaping up to have some great series.

denver making it out of the first round for once. not very optimistic about their chances against the trailblazers, but they weren't blown out in their singular loss so far so i can dream of them actually demonstrating their ability to beat teams if they want to.

Think anyone is gonna beat the Warriors this year?

houston seems like the best chance of that and they have... really not demonstrated that, even though they've arguably played quite well against golden state. if they drop game 3, no. if they win game 3, maybe? but still probably not, seeing as they couldn't put it away last year. i guess i'm also obligated to entertain the bucks since they had the best record in the NBA, but when golden state wants to kick your ass they have no qualms whatsoever about doing so and will drop 50 on you in a quarter or 20 points in a row, and i'm not really sure how the bucks will answer that. if they're lucky i think they take it to 6, but at least right now that feels pretty optimistic.

Generally have the same thoughts as you: happy for the Nuggets but don't think they're beating trailblazers and it all doesn't matter because no one is beating the Warriors.
