Overrated or not, Ibra is a blast to watch. I agree he’s nowhere near Messi or Ronaldo, but he knows how to bring excitement. He can score goals out of nothing and gets under the skin of other teams. Love him or hate him, he’s in the top ten players with trophies which is no small feat and definitely not an accident.

Nah... off the top of my head, Beckham was easily more overrated than Ibra. I'm not the biggest fan of Zlatan myself but even I recognize his media hype has always been pretty tongue-in-cheek. I don't know of anyone who seriously puts him in the same category of all-time greats as Maradona, and even though I'd prefer Batigol, Zlatan has a good argument for being put in the same bracket.

Though there’s no denying his success as a goalscorer, Ibrahimovic ultimately falls short when held up to the same kind of scrutiny as some of the modern game’s very best.

I think this quote greatly encapsulate how whooshed this author is here and I think somewhere Zlatan is laughing his ass off. Trying to devaluate Zlatans accomplishments by listen them and setting them up against Zlatans obviously ridiculous statements through the years is severely showing this authors lack of awareness with a mouth full of bait.

Ibrahimovic is the perfect football icon for the social media generation, and his over-inflated sense of self-worth, impressive personal statistics and penchant for a soundbite should ensure his cult status remains intact forever. Arguably, his best trick yet.

And I just love how he thinks he's got it all under control with this end piece. He just wrote an entire article falling into this hole.

Zlatan to me is a gift to football in a sea of well trained drones speaking like puppets before and after games. Is he the greatest footballer? Of course not but he has made us consider it and that's amazing. And he continues to score ridiculous goals because he dares.
