I'm substantially out of the loop on cricket, to the extent that T20 is still something of a novelty to me, but I'm not entirely surprised the ICC wants to focus on T20: it's the most broadcast-/sponsor-/money-(not to mention millennial-)friendly format. I even expect men's test and one-day cricket to gradually decline in favor of T20. This seems like something of a catch-22, because I'd expect you need a vibrant test scene to inspire future players and nurture overall growth, but a quick search tells me women's pro cricket is still fledgling in about 6 countries so I'm not sure the short-term returns will be there to satisfy investors.
