As always, feel free to ask me anything about this or sumo in general.
I like that Tildes still feel very much like a small town :)
I love you too mrbig.
:]
Ditto. And I also like that Tildes is small enough that I can still occasionally get a peek into worlds that I knew nothing about before (like Sumo).
Update: Yokozuna Kakuryu has indeed retired in a surprise announcement yesterday.
The wonderful John Gunning has a good article up about Kakuryu's history and methods, do feel free to skip the out-of-place 'Friends' references though, not sure it worked.
I welcome everyone to watch Kakuryu's last championship winning match which was against the literal Yokozuna GOAT (Hakuho holds nearly every sumo record worth holding), to view his brand of methodical and understated sumo at the top of the game. I've always been an admirer of his style and lack of fanfare that certainly reflects the expected stoicism of yokozuna.
And as always feel free to ask me anything about sumo!
