What did you do this week (and weekend)?
As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their week. Did you accomplish any goals? Suffer a failure? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!
I bought too many synthesizers, all on impulse buys.
The first two were the Roland Aira T-6 and J-8. I've wanted to get a bunch of stuff in this vein, but don't have the space for it, so when I saw these two units (a TR606/808/909-ish drum machine and a Juno-style synth with a sequencer/chord mapping) I had to get it, it was everything I need to try to do the sort of music I've wanted the hardware for.
This led me down a rabbit hole of trying to connect it to my Polyend Tracker, which I don't use much because Renoise and I wound up learning about minijack midi configurations, and building my own cable to connect my Type A (and standards-compliant) Aira devices to it. It works, 10/10. I bought male and female ends to splice together and reverse the signal on to make A to B minijack midi cables.
Between this and the CV sync of my OP-1 (supported by the two Airas), I decided to try to find a now-unicorn I never bought, a Korg Monotribe, which I found for $200 (far better than the $400 it can go for).
Now I need to fight the urge to scoop up all the Korg Volcas.
