So I worked until Xmas Eve and then Christmas day the wife and I spent the day at home, cooking dinner and opening presents.

Boxing day is the day all the family get together so today was a mad day of grandkids, noise and a visit from my son.

This weekend we are going to have a wander round the shops, drink coffee and chill, then Sunday I am going to try out my new hobby, disc golf, something that I have accidentally discovered I enjoy.

I've been in Chicago last few days. Spent the holiday here by myself. Since the administration gave us fed employees the 24th and 26th off (Christmas is a federal holiday already), though pretty last minute, figured I'd take advantage! Was surprised to find relatively cheap tickets to/from Chicago last minute (helps I have a lot of flight credits for once). But even more surprising was how cheap hotels were in the city, like in The Loop/River North: the primary tourist areas.

I've visited many times; even lived here like 15yrs ago for school. Hell, I was born here (though didn't grow up in Chicago). So in a way, this is my second "home," and it's nice to be back. Went ice skating at the "Ice Skating Ribbon" at Maggie Daley Park. Went to the Art Institute. Did some light shopping along N Michigan Ave. And just did a lot of walking around, taking in the sights and architecture. Just playing tourist.

Was supposed to fly out today, but my flight got pretty delayed. Enough that I'd miss my connecting flight back to DC. So rebooked for tomorrow morning at no cost. Though I did have to extend my hotel reservation another night. Price was a little higher, but still and excellent rate for a Friday night.

Chicago ain't exactly the worse place to be stranded. Also, just remembered this is the second time I've been stranded here due to flight issues. Which I'm almost entirely fine with!
