As part of my never-ending fight against water getting into places that it shouldn't, I got my shower remodel mostly done. Once the old shower came out it was clear that there was some old water intrusion, probably because the previous owners were terrible at caulking and painting. Backing drywall was moldy, but bone dry. Finding mold behind old shower panels isn't apparently that weird at all, but does make me feel icky and unhappy, especially with a newborn in the house.

The marble crew / general contractors are great, but they subcontracted out to the worst plumbers. These guys cut some electrical and didn't install fixtures plumb, so that's adding time to the whole project. Hopefully this can still be wrapped up today.

I took Wednesday off and drove 3 hours to the city to see Poppy live. For those unfamiliar she's a british artist that started as a YouTuber making niche electronic music but most recently did a couple metal albums. The show was absolutely awesome, even if she didn't play my favorite track (Spit). One of the openers was a french metalcore band called LANDMVRKS and they were also excellent. After the show I drove the three hours back home. I'd have liked to stay but hotels have gotten so incredibly expensive.

Friday afternoon we went to the local county fair and looked at all the exhibits and had some cheese curds.

Saturday afternoon we went to a matinee showing of The Odyssey. I had big expectations since Interstellar is one of my favorite movies and while The Odyssey was good, it was not on the same level and felt incredibly long.

Today I am going to try my hand at some plumbing as one of the shut-off valves under the kitchen sink has been leaking for some time. It should be simple but the entire thing is encrusted in mineral scale and I worry it won't be so easy to get apart.

I spent a lot of time in the car this weekend but I don't regret it. It's basically a half hour drive one way for us to go anywhere so I'm used to it.
