That's good to hear. Unfortunately the gameplay is more important to me and in this case is just not something I'm interested in at all.

Big Halo fan, own every game and have finished them all solo on legendary difficulty. I tried both Destiny 1 & 2 but I was already over MMOs by that time and I just don't like live service games as a rule. The gunplay felt great because duh, that's what Bungie does, but the rest of the game was not interesting to me at all. Because of this I have already made peace with the death of the Bungie I knew and loved years ago, so if they do end up folding it doesn't make any difference to me. I am only vaguely aware of the new Marathon game and my impressions are that it is Marathon in name only and nothing else.

I solo queued MOBAs (DotA Allstars and eventually DotA 2 briefly) for 10+ years. MOBA as a genre was just exploding when I decided to quit cold turkey and my life improved significantly as a result.

Some guys at work tried to get me to play with them when the mobile MOBAs started to come out and I flat out refused every time. I'm not relapsing on that shit.

Imagine my surprise when I finish this article and notice the author, Steve Yegge, who created what was probably my favorite PC game of all time: the early 2000's graphical MUD called Wyvern.

Unfortunately, after abandoning the game for many years, a time during which it flourished under the care of a few independent devs, Steve came back around 2020, alienated the very people who kept it going all this time, ported it to mobile and subsequently ran it into the ground and then disappeared again. These days I believe the servers are still up but there is nobody playing most of the time. I guess Steve is too busy writing articles like this one that just come off as kind of icky.

Why would anyone do that? Who is still even using the trash heap formerly known as twitter...and why? Steve is, I guess, but surely nobody else.

Nobody has mentioned the Fisher Space Pen. It still seems like the most truly BIFL option to me, but I understand it isn't super practical for everyday use. You seem concerned about the durability of the pocket clip on other pens, but this doesn't have one. I bought one for my dad for Christmas several years ago and what surprised me was just how small it is and not very comfortable to write with. But it still works and it looks like new.

Edit: upon closer examination it looks like you can add a clip. Neat.

Currently about 3/4 of the way through Murtagh by Christopher Paolini.

It's been at least 15 years since I read the Eragon series, and while this is a continuation of that story, the author was very young has had a lot of time to age and mature. That said, I nearly quit reading in the beginning. It still felt very juvenile and I really struggled to move past that, but I'm glad I did. I still don't really jive with his writing style, but it has turned into a pretty good story and one I look forward to picking up.

Awesome, maybe I'll pick it up for my switch if it goes on sale and play through the whole thing again so I can experience the dlc. I remember feeling a sense of loss when I finished the game because I had become so attached to the characters, an experience that was more common when I was younger but is much harder to come by in my adult life. I hope you continue to enjoy it.

I played this game on Xbox awhile ago and I absolutely loved it. I've played all the most popular Tales games including Symphonia and Vesperia but the combat and presentation in Arise is the best by a long shot.

Unfortunately, even after all that praise, I had 100%ed the game long before the dlc came out and never worked up the motivation to go back to it. Does the Switch 2 version include the dlc?

This Ferrari looks every bit as stupid as the person willing to shell out $600k for it.

Yes I meant those two, but to be honest I didn't play them that much, just enough to finish the story mode. I don't really like what modern fighting games have become in general.

Oh yeah, Spawn was also extremely overpowered. He had a eye-laser move that outranged any other attack and it could come out quick or be charged for huge damage. He could also sort of fly for a bit and you could unleash the laser from there as well. The rest of his moveset was crazy strong too.

2002 with the release of Soul Calibur 2, specifically for Xbox as Spawn was easily the coolest guest character. It's also a simple fact that Xbox had the more powerful hardware between it, the ps2, and the GameCube, meaning the game ran and looked better on the Xbox.

I continued to buy every SC entry out of misplaced hope and today I own them all except for SC3 because for some strange reason it was a PlayStation exclusive. The last 2 entries were especially terrible, for many of the reasons that other modern fighters mostly suck but also for other series-specific things like the single player modes being completely half-assed.

Edit: I thought I should clarify that I still played a lot of SC3 at my friend's house and it was generally a pretty good game and had one of the best story modes, which really solidifies SC2 as the "peak" as it was a gradual descent into the dumpster afterward.
