Not just Blender, but I heard they used the Eevee engine (relatively near real time rendering) instead of Cycles (much fancier) to avoid needing a render farm. Because you're looking at something on the order of seconds per frame instead of minutes, so you can crank through a full film worth of frames without parallelizing it.
It's incredible that's possible now, as someone who was a kid when the first Toy Story was released.
I put this on and after about 20 minutes of no dialog my girlfriend thought I was an idiot, but by the end she was so invested she's screaming "capybara, no!" at the television. I'm glad it got...

Update: I really enjoyed it! The animation reminded me of a video game at times, but the atmosphere was so soothing I was very immersed. I also really appreciated the lack of any spoken dialogue...

I also really appreciated the lack of any spoken dialogue and the use of animal noises and body language instead, so you can interpret the characters based on their actions.

An absolutely fantastic movie, and a must watch to anyone. While I would say it's not graphically impressive, the way the animals are anthropomorphized just enough to make a human connection with the viewer, while still retaining all the distinct traits that we think of that can define their species, was a fucking masterclass in storytelling.
I was not expecting to fall in love with that movie as much as I did.
Flow is a pretty cute movie that I think does a good job balancing difficult content to a broad audience. It may not scratch everyone's itch for stimulation, but I liked it overall. I was very...

I was very impressed with them taking on the choice to go dialogue free. I liked that experimental aspect of the piece of work.
Captain Disillusion, a YouTuber of Latvian heritage who extensively used Blender in his videos (even made a conference presentation on it) must be very happy.

I'm disappointed that I didn't get to see it. My local theater isn't showing any of the Oscar winners, and the other big theater just over an hour away is only showing Anora. Other big theaters would be almost 5 hours of traveling roundtrip, and even then the first few I checked aren't showing Flow. It appears that here isn't a home video release yet in the United States, but a Criterion (read: $$$$$) version will eventually be available.
Nominees, sure, but winners? This is the first year that I've really paid attention, but I'm surprised that it isn't getting even one screening at 10 am on a Tuesday or something within a...

It was also made completely in Blender! FOSS supporters are super happy about this!

Oh good, I booked a ticket to see it today on a whim so this has really brightened things up.

Kojima recommendations coming clutch once again.

Oscar nominees not being available in most theaters is just par for the course, I'm afraid. That's why people are always upset at them.
