What did you do this week?

As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their week. Did you accomplish any goals? Suffer a failure? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!

I got my tax refund adjustment and was parting something out, and I found my holy grail keyboard. The first ever custom keyboard I was going to build was going to be a YMD60 with this exact layout, except I may swap the Backspace, tilde, and Escape. I like the Filco Minila layout, but that board doesn't support QMK, whereas the one I purchased does. That failed project was almost exactly a year ago, and I just found this layout as a hotswap board with the exact keycaps i was also planning that build to have. I'll then swap this into a bamboo case I have, and see if I can get it running Vial as a personal project. I'm planning something akin to my current Preonic setup (if not, I'll just do what I always do in QMK).

This started from a fit of stubbornness: I spent something like two hours trying to write a comment about how LTT's Pop!_OS issue is a reflection about a larger system design issue that goes back to Debian but is also not exactly anybody's fault, but it took me two hours and too many rewrites and felt too soapboxy so I abandoned it. I feel I could write an essay on it, but also don't particularly want to. What did happen is I had a long thought about why I was using Debian-based distros in the contexts I do, and switched my desktop back to Arch last night, at least for the Linux side of things. It's a full btrfs single-partition setup with a swapfile, rebuilt from scratch (didn't have any files I'd miss). btrfs is one of those things I'm trying to learn that is super intimidating, but hopefully will be worth the time since it seems to do in subvolumes what most of us do with multiple partitions on ext4, which I'm finding pretty cool.

I also picked up my acoustic mandolin for the first time in months and it just feels so fun to play. My first thought was "I should do this more often."

Interesting board - it’s very similar to the HHKB JP.

It is! I'm just surprised it isn't a more common QMK-compatible board type.

Remember last week when I said my secondary job might shut down, but the crisis was averted?

Turns out that's probably not true as nearly everyone involved has ghosted.

Appears that it has/will shut down as the main individual behind the company has now been fired (micro-startup) by the people that were funding it, whom are (3rd party info here, so take it with a grain of salt) involved in various scams, schemes, adultery, a nasty divorce, revoked licenses, nonpayment of child support, money laundering, and cocaine.

    So yeah... fun!

At least I got paid up until the last two weeks of work? Others allegedly haven't been paid at all.
