What did you do this week?
As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their week. Did you accomplish any goals? Suffer a failure? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!
I accomplished a big goal! Ever since we had our kids 2 years ago we knew we needed to find a new house. We had twins and just immediately outgrew our house. The overall square footage isn't awful, but the house is laid out poorly and after 5 years in this house we're ready to find something else. We first tried around the time we had the kids, but my credit was shot and since I'm the only one with an income, my credit was the only one that mattered. So I worked out a plan to pay off about $15k in debt over the next few years and began to take better care of my credit score.
Earlier this week it all paid off because I applied for a mortgage and got pre-approval. And I wasn't really expecting that, so I'm not sure what to do next. We need to get our current house cleaned up and start dumping unneeded stuff into storage probably, but we are pre-approved until March, so we've got some time. But ideally I want our house ready to be put on the market before we even think about looking at houses. Just a lot of things to do!
Additionally, my first big project at my new job got client approval yesterday, so I'm feeling pretty awesome about that as well. And to top it all off, we got to take the kids to see Santa the other day (sort of). My parents' town's fire department does a neighborhood drive through with a truck and there's a firefighter dressed as Santa on the back waving to all the kids. They hand out candy canes and stuff. It was a lot of fun and the kids had fun. This is our first Christmas where they're old enough to understand holidays and actively participate in them, so it's been a blast.
This is a really great week all in all :)
edit: Well our fridge just died, so there's that...I guess I couldn't have too good of a week.
Edit 2: nvm it decided to kick back on after I ran to a gas station for ice and started putting our food in a cooler hahaha.
I bought a bigger camper trailer! I’m waiting for the cashier's check so we can finalize everything, but it’s a huge upgrade from my current one, which I’ll sell once I fix a few things on it.
The new one is a Winnebago Micro Minnie 1700BH. My old one is an Aliner Ascape ST.
