    All politics are local. Polls overwhelmingly suggest Americans don't like getting reamed by cable/internet providers. California also isn't the first state to tackle this issue.

    I wonder if by attempting to deregulate at the federal level a regulatory nightmare might unfold where states all have varying levels of Net Neutral regulations to comply with.

          Definitely not directed at you. Just that some people seem to say 'it doesn't matter if xyz federal thing goes away, we can just fix it with state laws' without considering the consequences of that.

            TBH, the way agency law works I think the California, Washington, and potentially other state's laws might be more symbolic than anything. They'll get knocked down in court.

        We currently have a govorner's executive order partially protecting it here in Hawaii and it's likely full protection will be codified into law soon too.
