I'll note that the stream where I do my weekly show has used an A.I. DJ for three years, but it's a volunteer station and the robot is just filling time when no live DJs are scheduled. So there's no threat of taking away any jobs, unlike this Portland situation.

On our stream? It's purposely extremely robotic sounding. It does a back announce every third or fourth song, and let's just say it's only as good as the metadata on the songs. It can play requests from the stream's chat room or via text. And it does a weather update once or twice an hour which I always think is funny. Something about the robot voice saying "it's a great day to get out and enjoy the sunshine" just makes me laugh every time.

Interesting, the late-night ‘AI’ at our station used to be like “shuffle on indie rock with station announcements on the hour”. Another decade has gotten us… the MS voice thing reading metadata? :p
